22 Jan Food Innovation Learning Journey
Later this month, the Southern Africa Food Lab will host thought leaders from the finance sector, insurance and investment on a learning journey regarding the nation’s future food system.
The event, which is funded by the Green Trust and WWF-SA’s Smart Food Initiative, aims to build capacity and partnerships in these fields in the transition to a resilient low carbon food system. The day begins at Spier Wine Estate and includes a number of field visits to sites of food innovation, followed by plenary sessions for reflection and discussion. The idea is to catalyse collective efforts to reduce negative impacts of food production on the environment, through inter alia interrogating the potential of technological solutions. Discussion will centre around ten future trends that will change the food landscape. Potential solutions to the issues of reduced water availability and climate change will be showcased along with models allowing greater inclusivity of supply chains.
